A covenant is a core of our creedless faith, a living, breathing aspiration made new every day. It is a commitment we make to ourselves, our congregation, our community. It is a promise to walk together in affirmation of our shared needs, values, purposes, and principles. A covenant asks, how do we want to be with each other?
Each Unitarian Universalist church community answers that question in their own shared way. The UUFF covenant was created together, adopted together, and is held together by our congregation.
Here, when we sign our book of membership, we covenant to:
- Welcome and Celebrate Our Diversity and the Interdependent Web of All,
- Care for Each Other in Times of Need,
- Be Generous of Ourselves and Our Resources,
- Commit to Our Community Through Thick and Thin,
- Honor Each Other in our Communications,
- Practice Respect and Honesty, and Trust in the Truth,
- Remember Our Boundaries,
- Assume Best Intentions,
- Work for Consensus and Be Transparent in Our Work
- Vote When We Need To,
- Support our Leadership Whether Elected, Clergy, Volunteer or Staff,
- Hold Conflict Gently and with Civility
- Use Our Guides to Rebuild Trust
- Calling Us Back Into Covenant
- With Love
