Topic: “Are you a defensive pessimist or a strategic optimist?” Defensive pessimists are people who keep their expectations on the lower side as a means of helping them prepare for the worst. In the lead-up to a given event or situation, they have a tendency to mentally rehearse all the ways things could go wrong. Strategic optimists, on the other hand, are people who expect things to go well, and who don’t end up fretting too much about the possibility of negative outcomes. They approach situations confidently without having spent too much time beforehand worrying about what could happen. Both approaches work. Which one describes you? Join us for a quick quiz and a conversation.
The ARE discussion is held weekly before Sunday service. It is a facilitated conversation where lively conversation and sharing of personal experience is encouraged. Each week the topic changes and is advertised in our weekly email to congregants.
There is no need to sign up, just drop in from 10:00 – 10:45 am in the main building downstairs. Nursery care is available in the main during this time as well.
